REACH adds 2 SVHCs to Candidate List

On Jun 15th 2015, European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) officially announced the addition of 2 new substances as Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC) to the Candidate List. The total number of substances on the SVHC Candidate List has reached 163.

 

Suppliers of articles that contain these substances in a concentration above 0.1% (w/w) have to provide sufficient information ( including the substance name and its content) for the safe use of the article to their customers, or upon request, to a consumer within 45 days of the receipt of the request.

 

Producers and importers of articles containing any of the substances in the Candidate List will have six months (i.e. December 15th, 2015) to notify ECHA if the following conditions apply:

 

-  The substance is present in those articles in quantities over one tonne per producer or importer in a year,

 

and

 

-  The substance is present in those articles above a concentration of 0.1% (weight by weight).
