The US State of Winconsin Ban Sales of Zinc Air Button Cell Batteries

2011 Wisconsin Act 201 has come into effective on Apr 17, 2012. The Act prohibits the retail sale of zinc air button cell batteries manufactured after January 1, 2013, unless the manufacturer of the batteries has certified to the Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) that the batteries contain no mercury that was intentionally introduced. The Act also directs DATCP to compile and make available to the public a list of zinc air button cell batteries for which it has received the certification.
