China RoHS Compulsory Standard GB 26572-2025 Formally Released
On August 1, 2025, the National Standardization Administration officially released the compulsory national standard GB 26572-2025 "Requirements for the Restriction of Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Products". This standard will officially come into effect on August 1, 2027, replacing the recommended national standard GB/T 26572-2011. The standard text will be made public within 20 working days after its publication.
This standard revision is a fusion and revision of the technical content of two recommended standards, GB/T 26572-2011 and SJ/T 11364-2014. The main updated technical content is as follows:
1. Increase the types of hazardous substances controlled in electrical and electronic products from six categories to ten categories, while maintaining consistency with international industry requirements (adding control limits for four types of phthalate esters (PAEs): di-n-butyl phthalate (DBP), diisobutyl phthalate (DIBP), butyl benzyl phthalate (BBP), and di (2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP));
2. Added requirements for the classification of electrical and electronic products and the restriction of the use of hazardous substances, in line with the "two-step" management plan in China's "Management Measures";
3. Added requirements for hazardous substance restriction labeling in electrical and electronic products, incorporating the content of SJ/T 11364 "Labeling Requirements" into the regulatory requirements of this standard. This not only complies with the management requirements of China's "Management Measures", but also enhances the level of the "Labeling Requirements" standard, which helps to unify RoHS management in China's electrical and electronic industry;
4. Added a description of the requirements related to the implementation of the standard: "For products produced or imported before the implementation date of this document, they shall comply with the requirements of this document from the 13th month after the implementation date." This regulation provides industry enterprises with one year of inventory product digestion time, which can effectively reduce the cost of RoHS control for enterprises.
