Feb., 2026 Summary of Toy Recalls in the European and US Markets

The toy recall situation in the European and US markets for February 2026 is as follows:

I. U.S. CPSC Recall Summary

The recalled products were all manufactured in China, with primary risks including magnet hazards, excessive lead content, safety hazards in battery compartments, and the risk of suffocation from small parts. No incidents resulting in injuries or fatalities were reported in any of the recalls, reflecting the preventive nature of regulatory oversight. Key recalled products and risk analysis

Toys with Magnetic Hazards

Risk: The product contains small high-powered magnets that can detach or become loose. If a child ingests multiple magnets, the attraction between them in the digestive system may cause severe injuries such as intestinal perforation, obstruction, or even death.

Chemical Hazards and Electrical Safety in Toys

Risk: The lead content in the zipper head of the product music box exceeds the federal prohibition standard, posing a risk of lead poisoning. Additionally, the product does not meet the mechanical and electrical safety requirements for battery-powered toys.

Toys with button battery safety hazards

Risk: The battery compartment containing button batteries in the product can be easily opened by children, posing a risk of ingestion. Ingestion of button batteries may cause severe internal chemical burns and death.

II. EU Safety Gate Notification

Main Recalled Products and Risk Types

Musical toys and plush soft toys

Product Defect: Small components (such as wheels, stickers, eyes, bells, etc.) on the toy are prone to detachment.

Risk consequence: The child may put small detachable parts into their mouth, leading to choking or even suffocation.

Plastic doll

Product Defect: Excessive di(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP) was detected in the plastic material of the doll's head.

Risk Consequences: These phthalates may be harmful to children's health and could cause damage to the reproductive system with prolonged exposure.

III. Inspiration and Suggestions for Production Enterprises

In order to ensure the smooth entry and continuous compliance of products, the official recall information of the US CPSC and the EU Safety Gate should be paid regular attention, and the product design and quality control system should be adjusted in advance to ensure product safety.
