Release Date:9/22/2015     Read Count:3134     Command Count:0

The Government of California is drafting on SB763, Juvenile Products: Flame Retardant Chemicals. The requirements for SB763 are similar to SB1019, Upholstered Furniture: Flame Retardant Chemicals. However, plastic parts are regulated in SB763, while these are not included in SB1019.
The new regulation requires the organizations of juvenile products sold in California to:

(a) add a statement on the label to declare the presence or absence of flame retardant chemicals;
(b) provide a written declaration by suppliers to indicate whether the flame retardant chemicals have been added or not
(c) provide documentation to prove the accuracy for the flame retardant chemical statements within 30 days, upon request by the authorized bodies

The new regulation also requires the Bureau of Electronic and Appliance Repair, Home Furnishings, and Thermal Insulation to conduct random sampling from the products labelled "contain NO flame retardant chemicals" for testing and impose punishment for the law violation.

Once the law is approved by the Governor, it will be effective on July 1, 2016.
