CPSC Approved ASTM F963-11Toy Safety Standard Updates

CSPC has completed validation of the ASTM F963-11 revisions and agreed to give its green light to the updated standards. As result of this approval, products manufactured on or after June 12, 2012 should follow the revised mandatory toy safety standards.

New ASTM F963 major revisions cover:

  • Elimination of some duplicated testing details for Plastic Film
  • Clarification on definition on toys with Nearly Spherical Ends
  • Clarification on test methods for Ride-on Toys and Seats
  • Exemptions of soft-filled toys or soft filled parts, or parts of fabrics from Rattle, Teether and Squeeze Toys to align with EN-71-1
  • Clarification that toy seats are covered in Overload Requirements for Ride-on Toys and Seats
  • Modification on gauge size requirements for Jaw Entrapment
  • Clarifications on measurements of Yo Yo Tether Balls
  • Updates in heavy elements requirements such as adding new section for substrate materials
  • Addition of new requirements on Bath Toy Projections
